Day Two of the Greeley/Windsor May Daze tournament had the Longmont Tigers matched up against Longmont Baseball League opponent Berthoud.
After the Tigers went down 1-2-3 in the top of the first, they quickly struggled early on the mound. The opening inning saw the Spartans shoot quickly out of the gate with 6 hits, to score 6 quick runs and go up 6-0.
The Tigers again went down1-2-3 however the defense picked up in the second inning, only yielding one run on one hit in the inning. Spartans lead extended to 0-7 after two.
Finally in the fourth inning, Longmont’s perseverance paid off and the Tigers gutted out their first run on 2 hits in the inning. Even with a double in the fifth, the Tigers ultimately could not recover and muster up the strength to give the Spartans a real battle. Spartans win this one by a 10-2 final count.
Next up for the Tigers – back into Longmont Baseball League play with a game at the newly formed Longmont Wildcats. We’re out at Draper Field at Clark Centennial Park – first pitch is at 7:00 PM sharp!
